Stacked to Perfection

In their latest collaboration with  J.Crew, Lulu Frost offer’s another must-have collection of vintage inspired jewelry with a modern flare. The bright, basic colors pared with elegant, but not overstated jewels could just as easily dress up a tee as it could pare down a party dress.

Landmark Glamour

Featured in this weeks Style Section, Jene Despain’s “Roaring 10’s” collection draws inspiration from some of New York City’s most beautiful landmarks. Handmade in New York City, the immaculately constructed pieces adorned with Swarovski Crystal evoke vintage glamour with a modern flair.

Governor’s Island Glamour

One of my favorite summer events in NYC is the Governor’s Island Jazz Age Lawn Party. I missed the first one this year because of my trip the Block Island but luckily one of my favorite photography bloggers, Jamie Beck of From Me To You posted these amazing photos!

Thankfully, there’s another party August 20-21!

“Set in Style”

If you have a chance to make it up to the Cooper Hewitt , check out the  “Set in the Style, the jewelery of Van Cleef & Arpels” exhibit! Along with gorgeous vintage and art deco pieces, they have tons of great videos and drawings explaining the craftsmenship and production of their amazing pieces. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from the exhibit;

The exhibit is on through July 4th so get up there!

Modern Glamour

Hand sculpted and painted in his Brooklyn studio, Alexis Bittar’s “Lucite” collection demonstrates a perfect marriage of modern design and 1930’s vintage flair.  I love accessories that can be paired with multiple looks and this bracelet could dress up a soft grey tee as easily as it could complement a silver cocktaildress.

Deco Diamonds at the V & A

When I studied in England, the permanent fashion collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum was a constant source of inspiration. So of course upon arriving in London on Wednesday, the V & A was the first stop(after grabbing a thick and rich hot chocolate from apostrophe in St.Christophers Square…). When I got there I was devastated to find that the collection closed 2 DAYS prior for renovations, reopening in the spring of 2012. There was an upside, I figured while I was there I would check out the vintage jewelery archive. Much to my delight, it’s just as amazing as the apparel collection. They had an amazing selection of vintage art deco inspired Cartier Brooches(pictured left). The exhibit may inspire a little jewelry shopping, maybe starting with the deco inspired House of Harlow Earings(pictured right) $57 on
