It’s all in the details

I never cease to be mezmorized by photographer Jamie Beck’s exquisite eye for detail. Her photos from Monday’s Met Gala are no exception!

The right fit

There were lots of beautiful dresses at last nights Academy Awards but what struck  me the most about my favorite two looks was that they were both exquisitely tailored to the actresses that wore them.  Both Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford and Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton looked stunning because the dresses they chose were not only beautiful, they were the right dresses for them. The silouttes were perfect for their body types and the tailoring and fit were flawless.

Calculated Risk

My 2 favorite looks from Sunday’s Golden Globe were hands down Michelle Williams in Jason Wu and Claire Danes in J.Mendel.  Neither starlet sported a traditional gown; taking a risk, {but taking it well}. The combination of prints and embellishment with simple silhouettes result in a look that is both elegant and unexpected. Not to mention both stars gave 2 of the best acceptance speeches of the evening.

Simply Stunning

I usually looks for themes on the red carpet; neutrals, brights, silhoutte’s ect.. However my top 3 favorite looks from last night’s Costume Gala at the Met share only one adjective, absolutley breathtaking….

Chanel Iman in Dolce & Gabbana. It’s so refreshing to see this legnth among all of the long gowns. Love the fun accessories!

Eva Mendes in Stelle McCartney. I love the bold pleats and color. The 70’s one sleeve is so unexpected, and of course, I can’t reisist a chic belted look.

This look needs no introduction or description. Gisele in Alexander McQueen, just stunning.

Neutrals stand out on the Red Carpet

I’ve never been a huge fan of light, neutral tones, especially for gowns. Usually, I think they’re the quickest way to blend in the background but 3 Glamorous gals proved me wrong last night during the Oscars…

Florence Welch in Valentino, unique while still remaining tasteful and elegant

Haliee Steinfeld in Marchesa with Ferragamo accessories, This may have been my favorite look of the evening. It reminders me of Selma Blair’s Behnaz Safarpour dress for the 2003 Met Costume gala, the designer commented on the look saying it was, ” The right girl, in the right dress, attending the right event”, the exact sentiment applies to Steinfeld and her glamorous yet age appropriate choice.

Loved all of the belted looks at last night’s SAG awards! They may inspire a Nona E Rose evening line..!

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta

Understated Elegance at its best…

Over-the-top sparkle and long flowing gowns were all over the red carpet at last night’s Gold Globe awards but my personal favorite look was Emma  Stone in Calvin Klein Collection.  I love tastefully risqué looks such as these that show that you don’t need plunging necklines or short hemlines to be incredibly sexy.
