It’s a Wonderful Wardrobe!

Back in the city after a great holiday weekend, wishing I was still by the fireplace watching my favorite black and white Christmas movies!! Though the film has never particularly been praised for its costumes, I love Donna Reed’s wardrobe in Frank Capra’s, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Especially the sheer embroidered button down pictured below paired with a circle skirt.

All I want for Christmas is you…

…and these “Mini Bacall” earing from Elizabeth Cole Jewelry. Inspired by vintage and antique finds, Elizabeth Cole Jewelry’s fun costume pieces have a Hollywood Glamour feel with a sophisticated, modern twist.

Ad Campaign Adoration

This week, Refinery29 annouced their “Most Influencial People in Fashion” list for 2010.  In the number 1 spot is Janie Bryant, the costume designer for AMC’s Mad Men.  Looks like circle skirts and cinched waists are here to stay! My favorite example of Mad Men Inspired Style is Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Line for Louis Vuitton.  I love these ad’s for 3 reasons;

1.They show that darkening a color palette can make the most old fashion floral print seem new and modern.

2.High ponytails can be glamorous.

3.Kristy Turlington-over 20 years modeling and looking better than ever.

Talbots, is that you?

Michelle Obama was onto something when she sported Talbots on the campaign trail. Recently, through chic design and modern styling,  Talbots has started aiming at a younger, more stylish customer. I love everything about this look. Mixing the faded denim jacket with the vintage inspired fur collar and 60’spencil skirt simultaneously makes the look laid back and glamorous.

A little script goes a long way….

As easy at it is today to send an email or text, I believe nothing shows extra effort like an old fashion, handwritten note.  The holidays are a great excuse to send a little extra love to those near and dear. I just ordered my holiday cards from Brooklyn based letterpress studio, WalkUpPress.
